If it's the original radio with the CD player, you're best bet would be to replace it. It's not hard to do and there are a bunch of posts on here to show you how to do it. You could also disconnect the negative cable from the battery for a few minutes and reattach it. That may allow the CD to load.
As for your cars other problems, the best way to find out what they are is to have the car scanned for trouble codes. There is a port located under the dash near the hood release (USA cars) I would guess it's the same for right hand drive cars.
Depending on the scanner, some of the less expensive ones don't see a Crossfire, the car may have to be scanned as a Mercedes SLK 320. Some auto parts stores may scan your car for you.
