When I took it into the dealer, they told me that the socket for the tail light is the problem and that it is too old to replace, they said the "socket" won't hold the light anymore and the part is no longer available from dealers. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Here is my suggestion.
Go to a Mercedes dealer parts department and give them this VIN: WDBKK65F43F285370. It is for a 2003 Mercedes SLK 320.
Tell the parts guy you need a brake light socket and they will look up the part number for you.
If it's very expensive, get the part number and search it online.
