Default Dealer says they can't repair left rear brake light?

I've got a 2005 Crossfire Roadster. Recently, the left rear brake light stopped working. Other rear lights are working - reverse lights, driving lights, license plate illumination, middle brake light (on trunk) and all right side lights. When I took it into the dealer, they told me that the socket for the tail light is the problem and that it is too old to replace, they said the "socket" won't hold the light anymore and the part is no longer available from dealers. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Have you checked rockauto.com for the socket you need? I believe the 2004 MB SLK-320 has the same brake lamp socket. Hope you find what you need.

I don't know what "dealer" you are taking your Crossfire to, but NEVER take it to a Chrysler Dealer, since they NEVER serviced the cars when it was new! 80% of your car is a Mercedes Benz SLK (first generation), so you should be looking for the parts under the Mercedes Benz SLK (2000 thru 2004 R170). I attached a direct link to the part you need to fix your problem. The dealer you visited is full of crap, since the parts exist.
Look for an independent Mercedes Benz repair shop in your area, they'll recognize it!
Good Luck,

Here is my suggestion.
Go to a Mercedes dealer parts department and give them this VIN: WDBKK65F43F285370. It is for a 2003 Mercedes SLK 320.
Tell the parts guy you need a brake light socket and they will look up the part number for you.
If it's very expensive, get the part number and search it online.

Mercedes-Benz dealers won't work on your car.
If you need a mechanic to replace this for you, the best thing to do is find an independent shop.
Use this link to find one near you. just put in your town and state:

If you work on your own car check the voltage at the socket
