I did an LED switchover in my crossfire, (license plate lights, trunk, glovebox, map lights). After I installed the license plate lights I noticed a bulb out light but brushed it off because I assumed it was from the LED’s messing with the system. I drove with the bulb out light for about a week then somebody told me my brake lights were out (of course I wouldn’t have noticed this without someone else hitting the brakes and me watching). But it’s only the left side of the car? The left brake light is out and the left side of the high-mounted brake light. Should I take out some of the LED’s I put in and see if it fixes it? What happened?
I do not believe the 3rd brake light triggers the bulb out warning and it may have been out for some time and the left brake light just went out? You can have the 3rd bake light rebuilt. I would replace the left brake light and go from there.
Your LED third center mounted brake light system is in need of a repair, I doubt it is because of the LED upgrades you installed. There is a link somewhere in the forum to send it off and have it fixed but it is costly. Your brake light that is blown out (filament) is causing your 'lamp out' light to illuminate on the dash panel. I last week had my left rear brake light burn out, replaced it because I noticed the bulb out indicator on the dash. Yesterday, the right lamp (brake) burned out (funny, this 2008 had both OEM bulbs go within a week of each other). Replaced it this morning and came into the forum to post about the fact. they both burned out within a week of each other. I believe the one is not causing or caused the other. Good luck!

The interior lights do not turn three light out bulb ON. Only exterior lights trip the bulb out feature.

Just an update in case anyone cared, put two new brake lights in and i guess it fixed the 3rd brake light in the process. Glad I dont have to worry about that now. Thanks everyone for the replies
That is strange but if they are wired in series, this would make sence.
FYI, I replaced my backup lamps with LED's. The lamp out icon did not come on. I then replaced the running lights with LED's which caused the lamp out indicator to turn on. All the operationally critical lamps are canbus monitored. The brake, running, and directional lights are canbus monitored. The directionals will also hyperflash do to the change in load.

I have NEVER seen that issue before. I am suspecting a loose 'something' within the 3rd brake light assembly. These LED third brake lights do not have a dual power lead going to them. Good it is working for now but I hope whatever 'opened' the left set of LED's doesn't open again. My 2008 service manual Vol 1, page 8L - 72 shows the CHMSL wiring/color code (plus wiring diameters), and the schematic on page 8L - 88 shows a few more connections in addition to the CHMSL. Strange one for sure! Good luck!

That’s wild, but nothing surprises me with these cars. I’m glad it’s a full brightness again for you.

Apparently you can only use one set of Canbus LED turn signals doesn’t matter front or rear and they’ll work. If you want two sets to work though the other set of LED’s have to have the resistors wired with them and they’ll work. Weird I know
I tried a pair of Canbus LEDs in the front only and they hyper-flashed. I did the same in the rear and they also hyper-flashed. My preference is to use LEDs wherever possible without installing resistors.
