Default Re: New wheels

To get some better clarification on hub & wheel bore tolerances, I found the below on a BMW Forum and I think this highlights the tolerances between hub diameter & wheel hub bore.

'Does anyone know what the tolerance is for hub bore on OEM BMW wheels? I searched the internet and came up with one answer but the poster did not state where these numbers came from:

hub tolerance: 72.48-72.43mm
wheel tolerance: 72.54-72.59mm

I noticed a lot of aftermarket wheels say they have a 72.6mm bore which is at the high limit of what I show here. I just purchased a set of wheels and I measured the hub bores with a bore gage and measured 72.69-72.72mm for all 4 wheels. If the spec I showed above is correct than these wheels are out of OEM spec. If the spec I showed above is incorrect then I need to know if my wheels are within spec.'

Based on the above figures, it is possible to have a clearance tolerance of the following:

Max = 72.59-72.43 = 0.16 mm
Min = 72.54-72.48 = 0.06 mm

So when we see a hub bore of 66.56 mm for wheels that fit our Crossfires, that is typically a nominalxsize figure.

So feedback to the Thread Starter, the wheels should fit fine - IMO.
