Unless you plan on showing your car at car shows, I wouldn't worry about the hole on the side.
If it still bothers you, maybe you can use some fiberglass or even bend some thin aluminum and cover it that way.
Many thanks for your advice... I am afraid car shows are not that common over here, or at least, not that I know. Spanish laws are so restrictive as far as mods that it's just not worth it. I just want to enjoy the car, so I will live with that hole on the side.
