No, the felt/carpet lining the console bottom has some tacky glue under it, but it should come up fairly easily. You pull it up from the back (the side closes the rear of the car). Only about 4" comes up. The console is wedged in there pretty tight, so after you get the front screws out, you need to slightly lift the back while lifting in the front - the front has plastic hooks connecting it to the middle console. You might also have a pneumatic line holding it down, but you should be able to maneuver the console to get access to the mirror control.
