Personally I would spend the extra money and go with the
MAHLE / Clevite gasket. It's more like the original gasket.
Also, when you take off the original pump, take pictures of where any rtv sealant was, if there was any.
There should be no difference in space as far as the gasket is concerned. It will crush against the block once it's torqued down.

I was in same situation with the wife's CLK 500, M113 a week past; I went to Mercedes and bought the correct gasket (metal and covered with a rubberized coating) just like the original which never leaked with 211,00 miles on it. Why use thin paper? The correct gasket is similar to a head gasket.
