Crash Safety of a Crossfire...
You always hear about the Federal Crash Tests and the different ratings they put on the vehicles based on impacts performed in their controlled crash test environment, but nothing compares to actually seeing what happens to a vehicle in an uncontrolled environment of everyday driving. Therefore, I have compiled a little collage of mishaps and how our beloved Crossfire held up. I must say, for as little as our car is, I am VERY impressed at the structural integrity our passenger compartment. These first pictures show just how well built our passenger compartment is built. See for yourself...
This poor individual had to be cut out of their Crossfire after this impact, yet notice the integrity of the passenger compartment...

Damn post limit! Here are the final ones...

I'm starting to see a pattern, all of the crashed Crossfire's I've seen all have front end impact. Which leads me to believe that we should be a little more concerned with our Crossfire's stopping ability!

That is one opinion. Paying attention to what's in front of you, stay off the cell phone, don't put your make-up on in the car...
I agree with you that the interiors seem to be intact. With the amount of front end damage, I would say that is somewhat impressive.
Where did you get all the pictures?

No offense to the women drivers out there, but I have seen a lot of talking on the cell phone while putting on make-up. Anyway, to answer your question regarding where I got the pictures, I am registered with a salvage auction site where the auction off all makes and models of cars that have been in a fire, flood, theft recovery, repossession, accidents, etc. I did a search for Crossfire's and these are currently up for auction.
I thought that was why people chose automatics instead of manual gear boxes - so you could multi-task...
Eat, drink, use the phone, put on make-up, flip people off... etc.

That's so true... My bride is that way. Will only drive an automatic so she can put on nail polish while driving down our mile long gravel private driveway... The funny thing is to look at the steering wheel. Multi color. If she hits a bump while doing her nails, she gets polish on the leather wrapped steering wheel... LOL.
People complain about their car being "totaled" after an impact. The way I see it, we should all give thanks to the engineered crumple zones in cars these days! They do a wonderful job of dissipating the impact and saving lives!
You can always buy another car...But a new lease on life is priceless!

Considering I pay extreme attention while driving (to the point of ignoring people in the passenger seat and NOT answering my phone in heavy traffic)... my biggest worry is someone plowing in to me if I have to stop fast.
My stop distance one these cars is shorter than most. Just do a test yourself on a empty roadway where you can get up to 60 mph. Find a reference point and come to a complete stop as hard as you can from 60 mph. The stock stopping distance was targeted at a 60-to-0-mph stopping distance of no longer than 115 feet.
Mine stops better than stock now as I'm running R4 race compound pads and race fluid on cryo treated rotors.

Where are all these Crossfires located ? I need some extra parts... send me an e-mail, I don't want any of the other hounds on this forum snaking me...

I feel a lot safer in this car than I ever did in my Neon. That's for sure. I for one hope the car is totaled when wrecked. I won't want it back after being repaired. They are never the same...
I totally agree with Timelord. The braking system
was one of the numerous strong points of this car.
I believe the issue is, you don't feel like you are going
80 mph. Even with the excellent braking system, people
don't realize it does take longer to stop. I have made the
adjustment, but at first it was down right scarey...
Going 100 mph on freeway, traffic comes up pretty quick.
