Default Rear Diffusers

Well in view of the chain dragging proposals over carbon fiber sets...

These popped up on Ebay and decided to pull the trigger. Wife wants a set for her car, and since my contact said November to start carbon fiber (and hasn't been in contact in a while) figured I'd take a set.. possibly for a mold.. and definitely a backup should something happen to mine.

Actually thought these were gone at this point.. they are the fiberglass repo's.

This brings up a thought ..... if the original OEM diffusers are no longer available, and these reproduction ones sell for $260, what would originals be worth??..... I know, the answer is, whatever someone would pay for them. Just wondering

True story, though I think I got a fair deal on my OEM set

Sturdy - durable - easy to paint fiberglass.. or "flimsy" multi-step paint process poly urethane ... let me think on this..

Will do.. with the mixed reviews on these when they came out..then kinda disappeared with several sales on Ebay, figured they would be worth a shot. The girl actually called.. "you know there are two in a set and you ordered two" Yes that's correct.. "but you get two.. do you have two crossfires".. yes we do.. "oh.. okay.." LOL.

Are you referring to the OEM diffusers as polyurethane?

So you prefer fiberglass over something that you are not quite sure what it is, makes sense to some I suppose.
I doubt that the OEM ones were PU for the very reasons you state.

I was under the impression the OEM pieces are TPE/TPO like most front/rear bumper fascias are made of... it would make sense from a manufacturing standpoint because the TPE is re-grindable and can be mixed with pure pellets to recoup some of the manufacturing costs. Back when I worked in the fascia department within Nissan, we would allow a 30% regrind, 70% virgin pellet mixture.

Also keep in mind that some degree of "flex" would be desirable from an accessory standpoint, since not every customer's rear fascia is identical. You would want something that could bend to mate cleanly to any minor variation in the curve.

Got delivery today... initial test fit.. they don't look bad at all for fitment. The only issue is see is one edge that wraps around to the outside edge needs some dremel work to thin it out to fit on the drivers side. There is a slight difference in overall thickness on the outside leading edges, but I don't see it being enough to notice. And if you do, well your too close and need to GTF away from my car.
Passenger side looked to be a clean fit out of the box. Going to wait till I get some paint work done on them to mount up. Here's a picture showing what I'm talking about.. Left is left and Right side is right..
Choice of deal with what I've gotten or do without.. I'll deal with them. I only opened and fit the one set so I'm not positive about the fit being typical amongst all sets.

Any further update in your opinion of the fit for the price? Do you have pictures of them installed?

I have factory diffusers on both mine. Cheap plastic nothing fancy. Not the same material as the bumper covers. I would think these fiberglass replacements would take paint better.

I can't seem to get a free weekend to work with them! And heading to Nascar race this weekend. I feel like I need a weeks vacation at home just to get caught up on things. And Doc, I'm hoping your right on the paint.. She wants some LED's on these like my home brewed set..so need to set them up..figure some sand time to smooth out a little more, going white primer since her Aero Blue does show a little sun fade from where the letters were moved to the led light off the trunk. Picked up an HVLP small project gun off ebay last week, and have the Aero Blue "O Rielly" matched 1/2 pint sitting at the house.

Just finding time is the kick in the head right now..

Know the feeling all to well - I'm trying to finish up some last minute updates before she hits the winter storage shed.

Did these come with the drain holes and are you satisfied with them>

Yes they did add the drain holes to them. And yes I'm satisfied with them. I have no doubts they will work out fine with just a little effort-finesse to get the "just right" fit. At $500 invested with the two sets they would have went back if I wasn't sure.
