Default '05 Crossfire in Consumer Reports

Just got done reading the April 2014 issue of Consumer Reports (Annual Auto issue) and saw that the 2005 Crossfire made it to the "Used cars to avoid" list (Pg 88). According to CR to be included on this list, the models have to have a record of below-average overall reliability. Did CR forget that the 2004-2008 Crossfire remained mechanically the same (correct me if I'm wrong) during its run?
I have owned my '04 for over 4 yrs and it's one of the most reliable cars I've owned. Just regular maintenance. I think CR needs to add a section called "Perma- Grin Club" and see the Crossfire at the top. JMHO

Same here. In 101,000 miles, my issues have been: Steering stabilizer, Crank Sensor, locked up ignition cylinder, Battery Cable and a few bulbs.

*Yawn*

Maybe they got their info from the so called Chrysler Crossfire Tech's that don't have a clue how to fix the simple problems they are brought in for to fix.

Makes one question how accurate is ConsumerReports. They don't even mention if it's the Limited or SRT. Big difference.

I hope so. I've been wanting an SRT also. Maybe CR will do an article on how problematic the SRT is.

The good thing is that the Crossfire hasn't made that list. It's only on the "Used cars to avoid" list (page 88). Only the 2005 model year.

I don't want to argue but this, " News article: Top 20 Used Cars to Avoid: Consumer Reports - AutoGuide.com News" is the title of the list I gave.

No worries. I started this post after reading the April 2014 "ConsumerReports magazine" Annual Auto Issue that I got in the mail last night. I just found it odd that CR would include only the 2005 Crossfire to "avoid" after it's been around for 10yrs. I'm just glad that my Crossfire has been nothing but a solid, nice, reliable car to drive. Contrary to what CR is suggesting.

No need for arguement. These reviews were from critics who never really drove the Crossfire. if they drove the Crossfire, they often compared it to its Mercedes twin. Because this is a Chrysler, critics often turned up their noses and scoffed at the mere idea of a $40,000 Chrysler. They never really gave this car a chance. I believe this car was way ahead of its time. If the Crossfire were to debut today with all the accoutrements and technology of today's luxo-sports cars, it would receive rave reviews.

I love the look of the car and the looks I get while Im driving it. My opinion of the car is the only thing that matters.

Hell, we live in a world where a $47,400 Hyundai and a $59,500 Kia exist. Who would've thought.

What does consumers report know...their "critic" person probably hasn't ever driven a Crossfire...(probably owns a Civic)... I'm 75 years young and over the years I've own lots of cars...The Crossfire is the most aesthetic of the lot... I vote for the Crossfire!!!

I simply cannot imagine myself owning any Toyota or Honda today. They make decent vehicles, but they have no soul.

As it turns out, they don't know very much. Here's an illustration. When they tested stereo headphones they picked a pair of Radio Shack, $38 a pair as the best. It turned out, they compared all the phones to a cheap pair of Radio Shack speakers, picking the ones that sounded most like the speakers. This "expert" didn't know that any decent headphone will sound better than almost any speaker, so I had a friend who thought his new RS phones were better than my $300 AKG's. So much for expertise. Heck, he may be the same guy who wrote that list. On another note, if prices on our CFs keep dropping, they will be paying us to drive them away. LOL

you want an SRT6 review. I have two. One with just under 30K, one just over 30K. I have put a CPS, AIT sensor and steering stabilizer on one, and nothing on the other. I have added countless go fast parts, and nothing wrong. I haven't had to work on the dreaded RCM yet but soon will. Preventive maintenance in this case. I quit buying the CR rag a long time ago. My consumer report on them, is, it's waste of money to buy, and waste of time to read.
