No more Sticky Key!
you guys ROCK!!!
I just want to say thank you to everybody on the Crossfire forum
I just finished the "Sticky key ignition fix" on my wife's 04 coupe
for the last week she had to leave the key in all the time, or else risk
being stuck somewhere unable to start the car.
this is almost like asking someone to steal the car.
After the fix, the key works like butter
the PDF was revision #5
Author: Rekcah, with input from,drhrsh, BobG,and onehundred80
Thank You for your help
Cheers

Question. how many miles approx before this issue arises? I have 14k on my srt, and will only be putting 1-2k a year on it. i figure i'll be dead by 30-35k. just wondering if my key will out live me. i believe in the if it's not broke don't fix it theory, so i don't want to mess with it till i have to.
Hello there!
I have a 2003 automatic Crossfire. I dropped by the grocery store to pick up some items, when I returned and got in my car, the key won't turn the ignition. The entire ignition column locked on me and the car won't start. It has been parked for nearly three months. The dealership is charging $1,000 to fix it. Does anyone know a cheaper option? How easy is it to fix yourself?

Hi Billy Dee
the fix is not hard, on a scale of 1 to 10 it's about a 5 (4 if you are good at limbo)
there is alot of info here on this, I recommend you read as much as you can about it
I don't know how to add a link to the PDF, maybe someone here can help with this?
You need to try to get the key to turn
try turning the wheel until it locks, then turn the key and wiggle the wheel
at the same time. during the repair you will have to remove the key and replace it
when you remove the 'ring' around the key cylinder
when you are finished, I'm sure you will have a $1,000 smile in your face!
I hope this helps
Cheers

P.S. In the PDF there should be a step 4 1/2. the headlight **** needs to come off
turn it one click to the right and pull. if it won't come, use a small screw driver to help pry it off
I had to do this, and it came off with no damage
