Default Value of a parts car

Every so often I check out Cars.com just to see what's out there in the way of Crossfires. My last visit there I found a blue Limited Roadster that they were asking $7900.00 with 105,000 miles. The car looked pretty straight and clean in the photos even the interior and the top looked good. I tried to find it before starting this topic and it appears to have been sold. As prices continue to drop and things like headlights going for over a grand a set, not to mention the cost of replacement body panels it has me wondering about a parts car. It seems to me that aforementioned $7900.00 Roadster is already worth more than that in just parts.

We are ten years into the history of the Crossfire and maybe it's still a little soon, ten years from now it might be a different story. I'm thinking a couple years down the road a clean straight Roadster for around $5900.00 might be a nice insurance policy. Then there is the drive it like you stole it and then get another way of thinking.

Took mine out for a drive this past Sunday, I was about to hit the gas at a red light and this SUV runs the light right in front of me. If I would have hit the gas a half second sooner (or had an automatic instead of the manual) l it could have been serious for the XF and possibly myself.

I would look for a low mileage wreck that had been rearended. That leaves the doors, fenders, hood and the pricey parts like the yaw sensors and such. Should be a better investment if you have a place to store it. That's my opinion for what it's worth.
