Conti ExtremeContact DW bargain alert!!
Just thought I'd throw it out there for anyone looking some Max Performance Summer tires for our car... Tire Rack just did a significant price drop on the Continental Extreme Contact DW (a dry/wet tire... not for snow or very cold road temps). In 235/40-18 and 275/35-19, they're down to $101.25 each for the fronts and $144.45 each for the rears.
Thats $491.40 for the full set (plus shipping).
They cost me $552.04 shipped to N.Y. directly to the shop I use for mounting, balance and alignment.
(That tire IS made in 285/35-19 for $9.00 more per tire, and 285/30-19 for $36.94 more per tire for those that really 'knead the meat', haha!!)
Even in bone stock size (225 and 255, those tires are only $507.80 for a full set, plus shipping).
Not a bad deal at all.

Actually, that was one of my big concerns too. Apparently they are very quiet, but DO get some road noise as they age, if we're to believe the reviews. The rep at Tire Rack says virtually all tires get at least SOME noise as they age, and that does sound logical.
For my car, the other option was Nitto Invo's. The best price I could find on Invo's was $779.34 (incl shipping), so the DW's save me $227.04.
I figure Ill see if the (eventual) noise is worth the diff. Both are highly regarded in ride smoothness, dry and wet grip and road noise. Both are rated AA-A for traction and temp, but the Invo has a "260" rating for treadlife, where the DW has a "340" rating, so all in all, saving almost $230 was ok with me in this regard.
At the end of the day, $552.04 shipped for the DW's aint half bad in those slightly larger sizes.
