Tie Rod Assembly
I looking for a little help, I took my car in for alignment after having new tires installed.
They told me that I need an entire tie rod assembly and quoted me (you guessed it), a price I wasn't willing to pay. Over a #1000. Labor, material and alignment.
OK, my question being, is this some thing I can do in my drive way? I have the whole assembly coming. Or should I have a trusted mechanic do it? I look in the service manual and couldn't find any specific directions on removing or installing the assembly. Any help or directions on this project would be greatly appreciated. The entire assembly will be on the 23th.

You will need to get a loaner tie rod separator tool from Advance or Autozone, 2 jack stands.
Make sure to adjust the new tie rod end length to match the old so you won't be too far out when driving for alignment.

Rekon a pickle bar is OK, it's not like you'll be re-using anything.
OK, maybe learned a valuable lesson yesterday about buying 'cheap' parts.
Had a noise in the right rear of my antique '89 Ford Probe LS, first thing I did was order some replacement rear wheel bearings off eBay for like $15, that was 2 years ago.
Noise went away, but recently came back.
Sounded like drum brake scraping, but I found nothing when I took it apart Sunday.
What I found was that one of the bearings in the double row configuration was bad.
I dug one of the old bearings out of the scrap drawer ( NEVER throw anything away ) and put it in.
Noise gone, all is well.
I have about 112,000 on this car, think I'll find a set of Timkins or the like and replace again with some new 32 mm nuts that haven't been used ( staked ) 3 times.

George, you must be getting senile. At your age I'm sure that lesson was learned long ago and multiple times! Oh, and what's that saying about insanity? Something like one keeps trying the same thing, but hoping for different results.
Just so you don't forget: You are expected to be at CAA St. Francisville, but don't fret about it. I will remind you again next month.
