Daily Driver/Convertible top
Thinking of buying a 2005 Crossfire convertible with 33,000 miles. Is the convertible top mechanism reliable?
Also is the car reliable enough to be a daily driver. Just hoping someone can pass along their experiences, both good and bad - Thanks

My Graphite was my ONLY car from the fall of 2010 to the summer of 2015. These cars are very reliable if you drive them every day. But those that have sat a lot can be some trouble, my SE took some time to "work the bugs out" from sitting for over a year.
The top mechanism is, overall, reliable. Again, my Graphite's top was put up and down no less than a dozen time a month, hell, a dozen times a DAY at CAA6 - never had an issue. But if you let the car sit a lot, you may have issues there as well.

You are dealing with a 13 year old engineering marvel. Like all mechanical devices, maintenance is important. As PizzaGuy says, equipment that sits unused can give problems.
My suggestion, have a competent independent mechanic give it the once over for any obvious problems. If there are no significant issues, change the oil and filter, engine coolant, the cabin filter and possibly the brake fluid.
With 33,000 miles, it probably has original tires and battery. Be prepared to replace them.
I bought a SRT6 with 21,xxx miles on it last year and have replaced tires, wiper blades, IC pump, and hydraulic top pump. Not bad for the age.
If you like it, get it and drive it like you stole it. They are a blast!
