Default Drive It Forever

”In his book Drive It Forever, author Robert Sikorsky claims that as much as 95 percent of an engine's wear is caused by the first 10 seconds of running after a cold start; put another way, every time the engine is started cold, it produces the wear equivalent of 500 miles of travel with a warm engine.”

....and so it goes, as years of data collection makes it fairly easy to pinpoint trouble spots, weak components, and overlooked Preventive Maintenance. This subject could also be called “a stitch in time saves nine”. Or any of a hundred more.

Last months Consumer Reports began detailing specific problems with specific cars, citing approximate longevity and their replacement cost. The article makes clear that a well built car is the most important thing ensuring longevity ......and the Crossfire certainly qualifies. You guys have made it abundantly clear about specific problems and how to avoid them.

i have made it a hobby collecting articles dealing with This subject and getting satisfaction from watching my two other cars, a 2008 Acura and 2013 HondaCRV run past 150,000 miles.
