Cool Re: Cold Air Intake

There are no true Cold Air Intakes for our cars at this point in time, many of us have opted for the Spectre Performance CAI or just fabricated our own. A fabricated system will run about $100 - $200 and will depend on your material choices.

Did the ram filter come stock on your car when you bought it? Or did you put that in yourself?

It was not stock. It is a custom job.

I put a short ram intake on my '04, with k&n's in the airbox, and two conical *sp* style filters. If i want to race, or am not driving to work, i put the stock intakes on. I loose horsepower with the shorties on. The installed them just to figure if i liked them or whether i would get any gains. With my comp tech gauge, i run slower with them on. I still however use them when i drive to work because i live at 6 thousand feet and drive up to almost 10 thousand feet and have sand and gravel and a lot of "crap" in the air. So i just figure it keeps my engine from sucking in any crap into the valves. Ps and I made it myself with some parts from a local hot rod shop, doesn't look bad, minus they ordered two different colored filters (*Grumbles*) Now if somebody would buy me a second hood? I would be more than happy to cut it up and make a true ram air intake for this car. *Rubs his hands in eager awaiting with an evil grin* lol.
