Default '05 Limited Coupe Stereo Installation

This my first post. I picked up a black '05 Limited Coupe on Saturday, and I am very glad I did. This car is amazing, and is worth every head turn I get in my small town. Last night I was up until about midnight installing my aftermarket head unit, amp and subs. I had to bypass the factory amp to wire the door speakers and tweeters to my head unit, but that was a piece of cake after I did some research. I am having an issue though with it. It seems that some how every time I turn the car off, my JVC head unit completely looses everything I have configured, almost like the car is completely taking power away from it. Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks!

Anthony

Why did you have to bypass the factory amp? I just installed a new Blaupunkt head unit and everything works great, didn't have to bypass the amp on my install even though Crutchfield said I would. In fact, I didn't even need the harness adapter they sent. The factory harness plugged right into the back.

I think you have to switch the yellow and red wires in the harness. The are reversed in the Xfire. Search the forum, there has been many posts.

This is correct, also, the blue wire (the amp turn on) needs to be connected too, then you will get sound. No need to bypass anything, I also have an 05 limited..

Yes I agree with above - red and yellow need reversing - this provides the constant live supply that the unit needs in order to "remember" your settings. However, you may well find that the unit then works independantly of the ignition key position, and you will have to remember to swithch the unit off when you leave the car. The standard amp is very good and works great with any after market head unit. The standard wiring includes an I.S.O. conector which matches current head units. One last thing, your new head unit will be capable of fading between front and rear speakers in a typical car speaker layout, but in the +fire the speakers are wired in series meaning your fade must be biased toward the front of the car, and speakers will work together. Side to side balance is functional.
Cheers Steve

Where did you put your subs? Can you put pics on? I had someone put a box in for me and it looks terrible. Sounds incredible. I want to redo sub box and am looking for some visual aids - thanks.
