Default NO Turn Signals... Mechanics Stumped.

OMG I am going crazy, its one thing after the other with this car. My frickin turn signals do not work. I have had my car in the shop LITERALLY Six times withing the last two months for the same issue and its not getting fixed. The hazards work fine, but the turn signals do not, and the light out warning comes on in the dash. The mechanics have replaced like everything related to the turn siognals, the breaker control module, all the wiring, the gauge cluster, steering colomn, signal actuator, the lever, the fuses....etc... and they are stumped, its like theyre just guessing and are retarded. This is how it goes, I bring my car in the shop and they replace a part, and the car works fine for a day or so and then randomly stops working again. I bring the car back in, and it startes working again and then stops. Anybody have any idea? this is getting very expensive to get rides out to the dealerships 15 miles away, having to pay for rentals etc. I brought my car in again today and they flat out told me they have no clue whats going on. Ive gone to the regional manager for the dealership chain and that hasnt even helped. please, any information would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you need to get a VDR from the stealership (vehicle data recorder). Pretty much you drive around with it plugged into the OBD port and when you experience this problem, you hit the red button and the VDR starts recording every aspect of the vehicle; PCM inputs/outputs, BCM (Body Control Module), ABS, etc.

Techs can't fix something they can't see, and in this day and age while module can fail, they usually don't and people foot the bill with these expensive unneeded repairs.

A VDR/ Blackbox records everything the car does from the time it is installed. Give me a list of what has been replace. i know the vehicle have the relays built into the BCM i believe... i will see what i can pull of chrysler's warranty. How many miles are on the vehicle???

Maybe you need to refill the blinker fluid?

I know......not very helpful, but I couldn't stop myself! Sorry.

Just thinking out loud.......have you tried a Mercedes dealership?

You need to try new blinker fluid.
they have a right turn fluid, a left turn fluid and one for folks who can't makeup their mind.

In all seriousness though, keep us posted. These cars are great but sometimes just plain "Kooky"

Hope you get it solved

I have this problem aswell - well from time to time.

It seems to resolve when I open the fuse box door on the drivers side and play with the fuse. :S

Do you have a rear parking sensor kit fitted?

hello all! I am having your exact problem to the T. The blinkers would stop working and the lamp indicator would come on however my hazards still worked perfectly... Then it would just be fine again. However this time it did not fix itself again. If you have any advice or could tell me what ended up being wrong with your car that would be very helpful!!

The fuse issue has come up on a few MBs from time to time. zDissimilar metals in holder to fuse contacts get high resistance. Pull the fuses in and out a few times to clean the contacts.
Also the ind relay in the module gets dirty contacts. Operate the hazards a few times to exercise them.
