Manual button

Can anyone explain the function of the MAN ( manual ) button located on the right side of the stock non-nav head unit ? I have not seen an actual purpose for this and the owner's manual is silent on that subject.

it lets you manually adjust the radio frequency instead of adjusting from station to station like what normally happens when you rotate the right hand ****.
