Default Race Fuel

Will this harm our engines?

Sunoco Race Fuel: GT Plus Unleaded 104 octane fuel, 5 gallons in a UN/DOT approved and reusable container. One of the highest octane unleaded racing gasolines available! Sunoco GT Plus Unleaded is specifically formulated for the professional racer and should not be used on the street. It is highly oxygenated to help produce maximum performance in classes which allow high dielectric fuels and is an excellent choice for modern computer-controlled applications which cannot otherwise tolerate tetraethyl lead (TEL). Sunoco GT Plus Unleaded is recommended for applications up to 12:1 with domed pistons and 14:1 with flat top pistons. $20 HAZ MAT fee is included in price above; only shipping charges are additional. Ground shipment only; No Air shipments allowed. No Sales Tax - Excise Tax Already paid - do not forget to claim a credit for tax paid for off road use. EXTRA OXYGEN (4.5 PERCENT) IN THIS RACE FUEL - THIS IS THE SECRET WEAPON FOR STOCK DRAG CARS, RICEBURNERS, SCCA SOLO AND RALLY X RACERS - like Scott Leonard of Essell Rally Racing (Pictured). NOT LEGAL FOR STREET USE - DOES NOT MEET EPA REGULATIONS.

Not bad as a serious octain booster... you could add the five gallons to a nearly empty tank, then top off with 91 or better and get nearly 100 flat for your average.

I would never do this except at the track myself...

Do you believe it would have a negative effect on any emission controls or parts? My thought is exactly what you stated and do a mix just for track day.

This is true – be sure you don’t mix with pump gas that has ethanol – I made this mistake and had to drive mellow to burn the tank of fuel. It was OK for normal driving but who needs to pay extra $$ for that.

No – here's a great article - perhaps you can find a pump outlet in your area. I found an independant that sales TRICK racing 100 octane fuel at the pump. Just call the race gas companies and ask who they deliver bulk to.

Brian, why cant I mix race gas with pump gas that has ethanol? That is all we have in Oregon now. I am going to try some Klotz Octane booster next week if it get here in time. Sept 11 is the last Thursday Night Thunder for the year. Three more trips(max) and then done till the rain stops next year! I'm going to be doing some machining this weekend. I'll let you know when to start watching the mail.

Say what? I've been mixing it in my cars for years without any problems. As long as it's not leaded.

Dave,

Are you talking about the 93 octane or do you run some of their race gas?

back from the dead!
I think there is a place in Kilgore TX that sells this stuff. I have not got in contact with them but I would really like to try some of the 104 unleaded oxygenated. If I ever make it out to Ennis next year it might be worth it.

If you find out anything, please let me know. I contacted a local station recently that was suppose to sell race fuel. They turned out to sell everything but unleaded. There is a company that sells it out of Houston but I could stand a drive to Kilgore if needed.

We have a Sunoco here right next to the track that sells 110 Octane Race Fuel....I won't run it but have put in 5 gallons of 100 Octane with 5 gallons of 93....lets say its 97 pumping through the pistons. Not too bad....I definitely noticed a difference but only tried it once for the track....don't want to have any future engine issues...you never know.

yeah I can get 110 leaded at the pump here, but I want unleaded oxygenated.

here's the link with the phone # for the place in Kilgore. I still haven't got a chance to call.

You can run any octane gas as long as it is UNLEADED...................if you gut all the catalytic converters you can run LEADED gas of your choosine. Neither one will be beneficial to you unless the car is tuned to take advantage of that grade of fuel.

I run(and am tuned for) 100 octane pump gas ONLY in my 6 and it's $5.99/gallon.
