Default Factory Nav Trick - street names feature

I was playing with the radio the other day and discovered something I thought was pretty cool. This may have been discussed before, but I did a search and came up with nothing. While driving with the nav radio, and the nav turned off, you can press the left **** in and it will display the street name you are driving on...it changes as you turn onto a new road. I thought this was pretty neat because you don't need to activate the navigation and enter an address...it'll simply tell you what street you are driving on.

I believe it only works with the nav disk in the unit or either have a destination entered and running.

That is neat, also shows how many satalites it is connected to. It worked just as you say, no 'route' active and no map CD in CD drive. If it askes for the CD you can take it back out after it has read it. One disappointment though, when it doesn't recognize the street it shows blank and it would happen on streets in my area that have been there for 18 years. Shows there are lots of gaps in our map info .
