Amp Questions
I have an Infinity Reference 5761a amp that is capable of:
4 channels x 56 watts & 2 channels by 107 watts at 4 ohms;
4 channels x 80 watts & 2 channels by 150 watts at 2 ohms;
2 channels x 148 watts & 1 channel by 287 watts at 4 ohms.
I dont know if these questions are general or specific to this amp, but:
1) Can I run it at, say, 4 channels x 80 watts, but only use two channels, leaving two channels with no load on them? (while still utilizing the subwoofer channels).
2) I don't really understand how the ohms works. Does the amp adjust the power it sends out to the impedance of the speaker hooked up to the channel? After yahoo answers reasearch, I think the amp sends out power at the lowest impedance level hooked up to it.
3) This is the main question. Is it possible to run 2 Infinity Kappa speakers 80 watts at 2 ohms, leave 2 channels empty, and then bridge the sub channel to push out 287 at 4 ohms?
Thanks in advance.

here's a link to the owners manual

I think the answer to your question is yes you can run that setup, just use the diagram shown on the link above on page 5.

Wow I am impressed, I looked for a while and never found that manual online.
What I am missing on the diagram is no channels are empty... even when only using two components, it is in bridged mode, which would be 4 ohms. Whereas the Kappas are 2 ohms.
