Default clear coat peel on windshield surround

while washing my car i noticed that the clear coat is peeling off my windsheild surround. has anyone experianced this on there vehicles? I have no idea what caused this. the car is always garaged and i only drive it once a week at most. its a 2005 with 30,000 miles. im thinking on getting it painted black.

well, did you use an abrasive compuond or polish alot? Small rock chip? Clear coat failing under those circumstances is odd.

What color is your car? Some folks paint the surround the same color as the car and it looks pretty good. For 300 clams you could buy a chrome one

never used any polish or abrashive on the surround. the peeling is not localized so that rules out rock chips. the color of my car is black.

Clear coat peeling on the windshield surround is very common on these cars, mine included. Many were able to get them replaced while their cars were still under warranty. I repainted mine using House of Kolor's Kosmic Krome. It now looks like the bright work used in our interiors. I did the door handles and side strakes as well.

did you take your handles off to paint? My graphite wheels just dont look right with the stock silver surround and handles (chrome, silver and graphite is to busy) Im thinking of spraying the surround and handles graphite or red.
