Texas Mile results
Jerry, Jake, Clint;
I was wondering how things went at the TM this year, never heard any remarks.
I put the big MAF on my NA, cut the baffles out of the elbow and removed the screen from the MAF. Seems to run very good. I also added two new air intake tubes (2.75") through the rad support back to air box. They seem to conduct a lot of heat to the intake air. I bought some HUSH MAT insulation and am going to wrap the tubes, hope it helps some. I need to get you to run it on the DYNO to see where I am.
sorry I missed you guys at SEMA, great fun, but I had to leave on Friday, just when you were all getting there.

instaed of hush mat which may not like the heat try some dei exhaust wrap. its like a c/f wrap and you wind it around the tubes then use some metal tie wraps to keep it all tight. works great for headers and the like
They did well again. Set a new E60 M5 mile record, 170.4mph.
They probably set another record for most alcohol consumed or something like that. Jake and Jerry and the guys no how to roll hard, I know from experience.
You can read their blog post they wrote about the Texas Mile HERE and HERE

Went ahead and used the HUSH MAT and it worked pretty good until it heat soaked. The intake temp then went up to 114 degrees. It took it about 45 min. instead of 15 min. Removed it all, may try the wrap for headers as suggested and see how that does. Anybody else have any good solutions??

"Aluminized Heat Barrier is made up of woven silica with a flexible aluminized finish. The highly reflective surface of the material is capable of withstanding radiant temperatures in excess of 2000°F.
The adhesive backed composite construction material can easily be applied to any surface or wrapped around a hose or wire to make a clean professional appearance."
I have used on charge piping right next to cat converters, almost total heat rejection.
