Remember to get/replace the o-ring between the TB and manifold!

Question!

I am new to modding the Xfire but I'm moving right along. Tune, exhaust, lowered, Leds. I am looking to do sprint booster and intake/TB.

Can we do the TB Swap and keep stock filter/engine cover? or do we need to update that or do Needs wings to accommodate the TB?

Kept mine for a while.. then graduated to "hot air intake".. free flowing over stock system.

thanks for spoon feeding me the info.... here is a Mercedes conversion part #

A 305 997 03 45

Bought it for $15 at the dealership. Chrysler was out of them.

Now, can anyone tell me how to determine if a TB is functional before I try to install it?

I the throttle blade seems to return to the closed position quite slowly. I was expecting it to snap back in place when forced open. Is that normal??

Forced? You do not want to be forcing this puppy, you are driving a gear and motor in the wrong direction mechanically. You will ruin it in no time flat.
It should be like that, it is not a regular carburetor set up.

Yes, I know this. I haven't been sitting here snapping it back and forth since I typed the last response. Just opened the blade 2 x to see how quickly it returned to the closed position and to see if it in fact returned to the closed position, but thanks for your concern.

To test the TB, you can unplug the wire harness from the mounted TB and plug it into the uninstalled TB. Turn the car on and depress the gas pedal, and you should be able to see the plate open and close. I did this and have a video of it. Not sure you really need to do the test since it won't take that much time to install it and start the car.

Exactly what I planned to do! Thanks!

Anyone have a link to a DIY for the install? Ill prob have a tech do it, but sometimes it's good to give him instructions when he works on non - Audi cars

Ok, just to clarify... I purchased a TB and MAF combo- used. Will the larger MAF fit the stock Engine Cover?

Or do I need to use the Stock MAF until I get an Intake?

The MAF is the same size externally and will fit. But you must switch the sensors, the original MAF sensor on the Crossfire goes onto the new MAF unit.
See here for details.

I couldn't get the star bolts out of my sensor, so I bolted the new TB to the manifold with an new o-ring and some rvt. I used the old Mass Air Flow Assembly until I can find a way to get these bolts out. Does anyone know the thread pitch of the bolts.

They have a fast thread on them, I unscrewed mine using a regular flat bladed screwdriver that just went into the slots. I think they are an odd ball tamper proof five sided Torx screw. I messed up the screw head a bit but they came out.

I tried with the flat head. NO GO. I didn't want to destroy the bolts. I am looking to replace them with manageable bolts if possible. In the mean time, I am going to the store to get the tool designed to remove them. I don't have the assembly with me, but I want to get the tool and the replacement bolts.
HOW about the name of the style head that is so I can shop for a Tool? saftey 5 star anti-tamper a-25 or something like that....

The flat head is small and goes in beside the pin and jams in the corners. I did it and Beaner did it, it works fine when you get the correct size screwdriver. He told me what to do.
