Default A/C and heating wont turn off

Hey Guys,

So about 2 days ago i drove my car for a few min and then all of a sudden my AC went on full blast by itself i turned my car off and the AC continued to run on full blast with the key out of ignition, i removed the battery at first and it just off, then i removed the fuse #36 for the climate control and that shut if off permentaly for now. I looked up to see if others have had this problem and most of the said the same thing that they just removed the fuse to stop it from happening, but my question is how do i get this fixed what part am i looking for in particular, how much it cost, is self doable, that kinda of information i would apperiecate any help on solving this. Also as a side not sure if its because i have the fuse removed but currently when im driving there is extremely hot air coming out from the vents is they due to the fuse being removed?

Thanks

Hey thanks,

yea i had read that, and it seems like that will solve the heat coming out from the vents will this also solve the problem of my A/C being on full blast when the car is turned off, it doesnt quite explain that part on that thread, i also read on another thread that someone replaced there fan switch, but again there wasnt really any detail on what the problem was that they were correcting. It might just be me though im not very car smart so i might be missing the information if its in clear sight.

Generally, if your fan does not turn at certain fan settings, the "Blower Motor Resistor" assembly is bad.

If it runs when you don't want it to, I might suggest you check to see if you have the "REST" button pressed, that is designed to run the heat with the engine off, that is what it is for. If "REST" is pressed AND the blower resistor is bad, the fan may run at HIGH speed all the time.

If "REST" is not pressed, I'd say the A/C Heater Control Module is bad, the REST button is bad (shorted) or the blower resister assembly has failed such that it had found a ground internally, allowing the fan to run. (The A/C Heater Control Module usually provides a ground-enable signal, but there is a heavy ground already on the resistor assembly.)

If "REST" is not pressed, I'd order the Blower Resistor Assembly and get it replaced, I'd guess that over 95% of fan control complaints are resolved this way. Everything you need to know is in the thread VALK posted a link to.

Seems to me that the place to start would be the A/C heater control module, if the air is COOL coming out, then something has to be making the fan run and engaging the A/C compressor clutch : common is the above module.

I know this is an old thread but if anyone is reading, my problem is similar and the mechanic says I need a new A/C heater control module. Anybody know where this is located at, is it the contol dash system, internal to the engine compartment???

The A/C and heat control module is the part in the dash that has the *****/dials/controls for heat and A/C.

DO NOT BUY ONE FROM A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP! If you do, be prepared to take out a third mortgage.
