Engine, Exhaust, Transmission and DifferentialPost questions here that have to do with the engine, cooling system, air intake, exhaust, Transmission and Differential
I'm new to the forum. Owning a crossfire can be a lot of frustrating fun lol. Thank goodness for this forum. We purchased a 2006 convertible limited for our 83 YO mother for Christmas this past year. Yes she loves to sport around in her convertible! Anyway we've had several problems crop up and have fixed them all with the help of the forum. The car only has 60,000 miles on it and is darn near perfect. So we've done the following things after it has stranded mom in town.
1) Camshaft and crankshaft position sensor
2) new fuel pump and filter
3) BCM resolder
I bought all high quality parts based on comments on this forum. After replacing the fuel pump and filter it's doing this weird hard start. It'll backfire a little, sputter and after the 3rd or 4th time start and run like a champ. There are no codes showing up. We put a fuel pressure gauge on it and it's holding 50PSI at the rail. Before we put on the new pump and filter, you could cycle the key 3 times hit the ignition and it would fire right up and run fine. After replacing the pump and filter it's doing this weird backfire hard start. Again we purchased both parts from needs wings. Also, when we try and start it the starter just turns and turns by itself. You have to turn the key off to get it to stop. Is this a Mercedes thing or is there something wrong? In normal cars lol if you release the key while cranking it'l stop cranking. This thing you have to turn it off manually. I told mom we would find her something more reliable Like maybe a Camry Solera, she won't here it!
Thanks in advance for the help. I need to get her back on the road!
