Question Very slow acceleration after full pedal depression

Have seen similar in a couple of threads. After fully depressing the pedal and accelerating, then future acceleration from stops is almost none for quite a few seconds (dangerous). However, restarting the engine eliminates the symptom. Mechanic told me a code indicated accelerator pedal high sensor error (I was too dumb to ask for and write down the code, but I suspect it was P0223). From what I have read in the forums, I might solve the problem by replacing the Pedal Assy (in the parts list for my 2005 Chrysler Roadster partno 05102641AA on figure 14-1110). I found a good
pertaining to the "washer" issue when replacing the Pedal. I also found what appears to be a "reasonably" priced new pedal assy on eBay

Any thoughts as to whether replacing the pedal assy is a good bet to fix the problem? Or perhaps the problem is further upstream?

Thanks for any thoughts. Love this site!

Well, I had hoped for some replies, but seeing only views, I will go ahead and try replacing the pedal assembly.

You seem to have answered your own problem in your post, so nobody bothered to answer.
The problem could be in the throttle body though.
Get a code reader, they cab be cheaper than the minimum charge at a garage.
That code is vital when it can be read.

Getting a good code reader, designed to work with Mercedes, specifically, will pay dividends for you. The pedals fail fairly often, but before you purchase, you might just try the throttle reset procedure. Long shot as a fix, but the price is right (free).

Thank you for those replies and suggestions. I am reviewing various code scanners. I have gone ahead and ordered the pedal assembly and will report back when installed. Edit: have purchased an Autel AL619 (probably an overkill for my level)

Whew, finally got the replacement pedal assembly installed and it has solved the problem (at least so far). The washer that they installed at the factory was a monumental ***** to get out. I left it out for the replacement. FYI, the code reader gave no clues as to the problem (at least for me).

Noticed the hood strut cylinder has failed and ordered a replacement via amazon per a recommendation I found on this wonderful site!!

A round magnet with a hole in it makes it easy to get the washer out.

for you, I'm sure, not for me; and finding a round magnet with a hole in it ...., but thanks for the suggestion (but now with no washer, it's no longer an issue). Plus the nut that is provided has a a built in washer

I don't think so unless your profile is out of date
