Default Navigation calibration?

I went to the dealer this morning to have a new navigation unit installed in my Crossfire. The old one never worked correctly and the technicians were not able to reset it. Anyways, after all was said and done, the technician said that it would take 50 - 100 miles for the system to calibrate itself. Does this make any sense? I thought that calibration would be instantaneous since this works by GPS. HELP!

Thumbs up Re: Navigation calibration?

This nav unit acquires the gps sats very fast, however the longer the car drives, the smarter and more accurate the nav unit becomes. I spent 6 years underground with the Titan II ICBM - I was the button pusher - and have taught inertial guidance for years. Our nav units are much more accurate than the system I was with! Enjoy...
