Navigation doesn't work!
All,
I have owned my Crossfire since Jan '06 and my Navigation, the OEM unit, has yet to work. It's been in to the dealers 5 times and they have still not been able to diagnose the problem. I brought back in today and they believe that it needs a new disk, they've tried that twice before, and that this will fix the problem. I have also had the entire unit replaced. Anyone else having the same sort of problems with their unit?

My OEM NAV radio has worked since day one. When they replaced the unit did they also replace the GPS antennae? I do not think the disks make a difference they are from 2004 and have never been updated.

Good point on the GPS antennae. Neither I, nor the dealer, thought about replacing it. I will be sure to mention it when I go back the next time.

I think I may know what your problem is... Sometimes when the cars arrived at the dealerships, they opted to install the navigation on site. If they did, chances are, they did not wire it properly because the instructions that are provided to the technicians are incorrect. Please tell me exactly what is happening with your unit. Can you input the destination and then it just doesn't recognize where the unit is? Does it show a road that is completely incorrect and will not recalculate as you drive?
blacklimitedcoupe,
The nav shows a road that is completely incorrect and does not recalculate as I drive. What do you think it might be? Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I can almost guarantee what your problem is. The speed sensor wire is hooked up to the wrong wire on the Amp. The dealerships have incorrect wiring diagrams. Mine did exactly the same thing. I fixed the speed sensor wire and it worked perfectly now.
blacklimitedcoupe,
Thanks for the advice. When you say that you fixed the speed sensor wire could you be a little more specific? I want to share this with the dealership with the hope that the fourth time will be the charm. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

If you'd like, I can mail you a copy of the instructions with the corrections on it. The dealer will probably deny it, but they are wrong. Chrysler even knows of the misprint and did nothing to correct it. Let me know.
Could you send those instructions to me also ? I found the speed sensing wire at the amp {which is I believe is more of a garden hose green with a white stripe than a dark green with a white stripe as the wire diagrams calls it out as} but I can't find the reverse wire you told me about, also were did you get the female wire ends for the plug at the head unit
Thanks.
Thanks.
Yeah, I am going to fax the copy of the instructions to KJ tomorrow when I get to work. If you want to email me your fax number, I can send them to you also. Otherwise email me your address and I'll mail them out tomorrow. To answer your other questions...yes, the diagram says it is a dark green with a white tracer, but it is actually a brighter grass green with white tracer. As for the reverse wire, you don't need to bother with that. It isn't needed.

blacklilmitedcoupe,
Have you had a chance to FAX the instructions yet? I really want to get this taken care of as soon as possible. Thanks.

blacklimitedcoupe,
The FAX still hasn't come through. Perhaps you could mail them to my home address.
