Speed Sensor location for GPS unit
I just purchased a Pioneer Avic-Z1 (part of my customization) and to get accurate readings for the GPS you need to tap into the speed sensor located somewhere in the dash.
Anyone who has installed an in-dash Navigation unit could you let me know where it's at in case my installer can't find it. He might know but it's always good to have any and all information regarding the install of the unit

There is a stock speed signal (GAL) wire that is in the stock stereo harness.
See attached drawing at Socket A, pin 1. (Yes, I know it's for a standard Becker unit, but the pin-outs are the same for our NAV systems.)
Hope that helps.

That's a grett diagram MMZ! Thanks. Can you explain the telephone and microphone inputs? and why is there a speed signal for the radio? Or info on the reversing lights?
I get the CD changer connections, but why are there 2? i have a feeling these head units are capable of a lot more than we currently get.

Okay, first off, as I mentioned this is NOT for the OEM NAV radio in the Crossfire, but was the only Becker system I found with the pin-outs that were correct (Traffic Pro).
Second, I would bet that the telephone and microphone pins have been disabled in the software. The speed signal is not used by the Radio, but by the Navigation system. This wire should be present even for the standard Becker units without NAV.
As to the CD Changer connections, the "Two" connections you refer to are actually in a modular plug which can be broken down into three sections. The connections in C3 are the actual analog audio connections and can be wired directly to a pair of RCA plugs using the common ground between them. Here's the rub... You can't use the CD inputs unless you can trick the unit into believing there is a changer attached to the connections in C2. I currently have a changer in the rear cargo area and have my iPod on the CD input. I don't get the song names or any real controls, but I don't really need them.
Hope that helps.

When I put the nav in my xfire I had to run the speed sensor wire as it was not in the factory harness. I had to tap into the green/white speed sensor wire at the amp under the front footwell passenger side. My radio came with the european wire connectors and wire for the harness.
