Really depends on how crazy you want to go. I didn't want to do the single-DIN because it was going to cover up the A/C controls and the motorized parts of the unit tend to break.

Kenwood uses the Garmin software with Navteq maps but has less POI than the Pioneer
Pioneer uses TeleAtlas maps, not a good routing, but nearly double the POI as Kenwood.
Alpine uses Navteq maps but not sure of the Nav interface.

I liked the Pioneer the best but single-DIN units have a separate brain but double's sometimes have HDDs.

Post up what you're looking for in the unit other than just Navigation.

I've had the first gen AVIC for 4yrs now and love it... now that I updated it. It hides in the dash when not in use and has a verity of great features that make adjusting the audio levels a snap... and it sounds much better than the stock head unit even if you're tone def like myself!

I'm not saying it's perfect but it does everything I need it do and then some and now it does even more with the update. And they just came out with I think the 4 gen (AVIC-N4) a little while ago.

Do a search for AVIC and you'll find a lot of good info.
