Optical inputs on '07 base model???
I just pulled my radio out to put in a new nav/dvd and found the weirdest thing on the back of my radio; an optical input! It had one lit up and the other dark as could be meaning it was bi-directional. Does this mean that I could have added an ipod adapter to my factory radio? From what I've found searching the board, only the factory GPS radios in the limited's and SRT6's had optical. Oh and another thing, My harness is way different from the VW/Audi one that everyoen else says they switch the yellow and red wires on. Mine doesn't even fit let alone the wires lining up. Please tell me I didn't get some black sheep cobbled together XF. I'll post pictures of it tomorrow during round two when I try this install again.
Peace, I'm out!

FYI, just pulled the factory radio out of my '06 base coupe last month and there was no such optical cable conected to my radio.
Also, I was able to use the vw wiring harness adapter.
Interesting, I wondered what, when, and why it changed?

Actually, After looking at the package the harness came in, I think I got had at Best Buy. My harness looks like a VW03B but it is in the VW01B bag. Another thing I just remembered is the antenna is not a Euro-DIN antenna. It's smaller.

i too own a base '07 model... after seeking out a few different places to do the install on the new head unit they have kept telling me that the harness for the stereo is in fact that from a landrover... 2001ish model if i remember the year correctly... weird but i guess thats because it is not a chrysler radio, but in fact a schosche (sp?) radio designed to fit in our xfires...
The radios base and navigation in the Crossfire are made by Harman/Becker as is the premium amplfier. The radios are essentially the ones made for Mercedes. The optical connector on some of the radios is for Mercedes-Benz MOST networks. The amplifier is almost identical to the one for the 2002-2004 Dodge Ram pickup.
