Stock subwoofer replacement question(s).

Kicker 04SSMB6
Anyone have experience with these or subs of similar mounting depth? Basically I have a surplus of Audio equipment, but I really don't feel like putting a Fi 12 in this vehicle...I'll keep that for the dB drag one.
My Situation:
I have a separate two channel amp I will be using for these subs (will push them JUST fine.)
I will be running the stock setup on the rest of the system, via the SD card Clarion that has been discussed here.
My Issue:
Anyone replaced the stock subwoofers before?
Will they fit or will it require some hacking?
Is it difficult, (i.e. - what panels need to be removed and how).
Is is safe to drill near that area for wire threading? (Or does anyone have a suggestion of how to wire the stock locations with an aftermarket amp?)
My Ultimatum:
I do plenty of car audio work, so don't feel the need to simplify for me.
I only HEARD that the stock subwoofers were 6.5's, if I'm wrong by all means correct me.
And finally, biggest pet peeve for me in forums... Yes I searched.
Thanks for any help

Yes, the factory subs are 6.5". They are easy to replace but the performance gain would be small at best. I say this because they simply use the non sealed empty space around the fuel tank for their enclosure. You'll have to remove the carpet panel behind the seats to access the subs. Any drilling should be done carefully as the fuel tank is located behind the seats just millimeters behind the sheetmetal.
i know you said you searched but try harder next time

Still one question remains. The kickers that bhays used are 2 7/8" mounting depth, and these are a 2 1/4"...so i should have 2/8" room left correct? so the question is...
Is the cabinet that these subs sit in worth dynamatting or not entirely?

Novice here at speaker install -- stock subwoofers have four wires, my Kicker replacements have only two -- how do I wire them ?? Thanks,
Two of the wires are power; two are signal. Refer to the factory wiring chart to identify them (on one of the threads - search and see https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ad.php?t=20949)
I didn't bother removing the factory subs - left them in place. Instead ran a separate pair of leads to a powered sub. But that's using a replacement head unit so probably not much help to you.
If I was doing it with the factory head unit, I would come off the head unit before the factory amp, go into the SD Clarion card, then to the power amp you have, then to the speakers, put into enclosures and bolted to something solid (not the carpeted trim panels). That's just me.
