Thanks to all who have guided me in the past on this thread. It took only about 40 minutes to remove the stock radio and install the London MP48. I really appreciate the pictures - I printed them out and they were with me during the installation process. The unit works fine with CD's, and my Creative Zen mp3 player. Now I can listen to my downloaded audio books! The FM tuner doesn't seem to be as strong as the base Becker unit, but that's not a bad trade off. You folks are just great!

Here is a picture of my installed Blaupunkt London MP48. You'll notice I attached the supplied remote control to the front of the ash tray with some double sided sticky tape. It makes it easier to switch presets or modes. This unit plays mp3 discs too, so you can put about 10 regular sized cds on one mp3 cd. And there's a MIX function that will randomly play through all the tracks. I'm very pleased.
Does anyone know if
Blaupunkt Memphis MP66 is also plug and Play.
It has bluetooth so that would be a good option and I am having hard time finding MP56 anywhere. But MP66 is alittle more expensive but available.
ANyone knows if MP66 is plug and play? Or can I still plug it and cut one cable ( which one ?) and get it to work?

All,
As an audiophile rube I'm compelled to ask the folowing. One of the previous 2 owners had a Alpine CDE - 9881 HU installed. The sound quality (without the Amp is 4 channel or door cap mod install) is crap. Want to get this Blaupunkt London MP48 HU installed. Sonic Electronics still has them available. Even with the Alpine HU currently installed., am I still plug and play ?

Still available on ebay - got a couple of questions: Can't tell from the picture, but is the USB port on the front - I need for My Creative Zen. Also, if anyone reading this has this unit, are you satisfied. Looks to be a very reasonable (even cheap) replacement. Oh, and was it truly a plug and play (electronics are not my bag!).

The USB and AUX ports are on the back of the unit. If the cables do not come with the unit you buy, they can be purchased as accessories. There is an SD card slot in the front behind the removable face. This can be used for mp3 or wmv files, or bmp files with the MP66 (not sure about the the MP56).
Blaupunkt are "plug and play" with our harnesses, as long as socket A pin 3 (telephone mute) is not used. My install took about 10 minutes, and most of that was running the USB socket to the map holder in the passenger foot well.
As far as performance... it made an AMAZING difference. I already had bass blockers in the doors to isolate the rear "subs" and clean up the mid-range. I was fairly happy with that, but was toying with adding a sub. Immediately after installing the MP66, I changed my mind. The sound is awesome. And being able to load large archives of music onto a flash drive and search on the head units screen is great. I do believe that the difference in displays between the MP56 and 66 will make searching large archives a little more cumbersome.
Hope this helps.
I just picked up a used MP-48 from one of our Forum members.
It came intact with all pieces including the sleeve.
I'm aware that the wiring harness is plug & play.
Do I need to get an antenna adapter, or is that puppy also plug & play...???
The only other thing I'm missing are the key's to yank the radio, but I'll hunt those down at Walmart or Crutchfield...
Please advise...
Thanx...
