Yep, you're right - I drove by you yesterday and my radar detector went nuts!

Seriously, just trying to help. With that unit, and most for that matter, it will work a lot better if it is set up without any obstructions.

Go find yourself a traffic sign or something that always trips your detector that is always on your route. Make a pass with the detector the way you have it and note how far away from the item your detector sounds. Then go back and come by again, this time with the detector set up with nothing blocking it, and aimed straight down the road. I'm thinking it will alert further away from the signal. Just a thought.

most remote kits run ya about 1200....

as as far as the sticky pad thing and using that $30 automatic door opener detector you claim to work flawlessly... try and get a rid with someone that has an escort or a valentine or a bel...

or to our lovely wistler owner you can rid in her car and be like whoaaa our detectors are like totaly cool right they go off with just enough time for the officer to already have my name and address on the ticket... time savors FTW lol

sorry i am being a ****

Yes, you are. I got my information from facts via actual tests and different websites. My Whistler detects radar around corners and from extremely far distances, and works perfect for those times when laser is used as well. I have yet to get a ticket, so I'll continue thinking mine is "totally cool!" Don't run your mouth if you don't own one. You should definitely stick with what works for you, but maybe cut out a bit of the sarcasm.

It's one thing to try to be funny and sarcastic, I actually enjoy reading it on this forum...but not when you're making snide remarks about something you've never owned, therefore, a device that you're not so knowledgable about. I'm sure yours works perfect mounted up high. Once again, mine is best mounted low because it detects laser, as well as radar, but it doesn't mean it's a pile just because it's different than the more popular version that you have.

Enough said.

i have owned 2 wistlers 2 cobras 1 bel sti 2 valentines 3 escorts and even some radio shack radar....

i am well rounded in the POS detectors out there let me tell you even from my own tests i would not put a wistler cobra or radio shack against an escort bel or valentine... ever...

the valentine didnt have anough options for my liking... it was a GREAT detector tho.

the bel is also fairly plain too and it was a great detector but it got old so i went back to the escorts... i had the x50 the solo and now the 9500ix...

i noticed the difference between the solo and the x50 which should be fairly similar so the difference between the 9500ix and the wistlers would be painlyfuly annoying to me.. i hate false alarms i hate short notice and i hate the cheapness and barily any R&D into the wistlers and cobras...

i am sorry that i was ripping into you about your detector choice if it works for you and you dont have any tickets thats fine my me.

I made this post to show some people that the detector is on the black dots and hanging just fine with no problem not to say that wistler owners are idiots

my son has one, and going thru Chicago Sunday, he was nailed by VASCAR from the air....his detector was useless, detectors are good for letting you know someone is out there in the neighborhood working, but not to put anyone down here, just don't rely totally on your detector. I trained our rookies for yrs, to not turn the unit on, in other words, use the remote control, this sends out the signal immediately, some call this instant-on radar, all units work pretty much the same. Anyway, using this mode when you see your target speeding gives the target "0" time to react. Now for you guys that are near the target, you now know there is an officer close by...just don't find yourself being the target....LOL...one other comment since we use to play with detectors along site our radar units...they all will work, just some are better tuning out "false" signals, which would drive you crazy after awhile...just an old retired cops .02...
Ferris, I like that unit...could use that at the Dragon, those Blount Co. guys are serious, even though we talked some, I think they would arrest me too....LOL...post some info, might have to get one, but IL and OH are going back to using airplanes and VASCAR...which, means you are out of luck using a detector and they know it.

Damn...what'd you do, buy a new one every few months? 10-15 radar detectors? You must have like $1500 invested in detectors. Bummer. (No, in all seriousness, 10-15?)

On the plus side, you have no need for a sun visor...just stick them all up along the top of the windshield and see which one goes off first. LOL Functional and blocks the sun!

P.S. Apology accepted. The main reason for MY posting was to show that there are tests out there that prove mounting low gets you the best results. Facts are facts....

i never owned more than 2 at once. this is the span of my driving carrer Lack of better words lol less than 2 detectors a year.

my buddy got one of my valentines stolen.

most of these detectors cost about the same so i sell them and buy a new one... i really dont have all to much invested into it.

that unit looks like the whistler pro 3450 which would put it right in the $250 range.I have no idea how well they work.

they will all pick up the same signal its just the amount of time it gives you is the difference.
