Exclamation My car sounds like a dying bird...

PROBLEM IS RESOLVED! LET THREAD DIE IN PEACE!

So, Tra La La... Im leaving the gym when I notice this really strange sound echoing across the parking lot, first I thought it was some strange, bird-like creature, making a sick, bird-like sound. Then I figured, it was someones car alarm, only it sounded like the battery was about to go dead because, again, it sounded like a dying bird choking on its own blood ( Im totally serious...)

Lo and behold as I get closer to my car, I find that its the origin of the sound. I was a little freaked...

I figured, "Maybe someone tried to get into my car? But the lights aren't flashing... and that is not what my security alarm sounds like... WTF?!"

So I unlock the car, put the key in the ignition, and start it. The "alarm" doesn't stop immediately, just kind of sputters out...

Then it starts up again in traffic and makes me look like a dumbass...

Anyone have an explanation for this?

Is there a difference in the security alarm and the panic alarm? Is it motion sensitive? How would it go off if a door wasn't opened? (no personal items missing...)

Maybe my car has the swine-flu...

Easy fix

The sound so far has been compared to the following:

1. Old man coughing and hacking up something gross
2. Cricket on crack
3. and now thanks to you, "dying bird choking on its own blood"

Heehee

Crossfire owners are such a fun bunch

naw, but im making assumptions based on death noises... think of the movie "300" then throw in "what IF" the Persians were high in helium when they were chopped to bits, etc...

Two things:

1) Don't spend money on repairs untill you check in HERE first. These people can save you money and frustration - I'm new here, too and am SO glad I found this forum. I bought the $68 storage bin for $52 and THEN found out you can order them for under $30!!!! I should have read ALL THREADS here on the topic FIRST.

2) Don't trade it in - sell it outright to someone and get the ENTIRE value of your car!

Tell you what check your Tow switch.....the button with the car lifted on it. I jacked my car up and it started screeching like the alarm but I hit button and it stopped.

hey all
i am the father of lennox that posted this message and have been trying to find some answers here as well.
first of all the sound the car makes is not a siren noise
it is a loud chirping or barking noise that varies in intensity and speed. starting and stopping at will.
it can sound with the alarm activated or not. it will also do it driving down the road. and the remote won't stop it!!
if anyone has ever encountered this issue i would like to know how it was solved
any help would be appreciated

dh

sorry to revive

and i am sorry to come off harsh but wow, you are whiny! over a sound you will trade her in? and say "it is hard to feel special when others drive the same thing". It always sucks and nobody is happy when they have problems with their cars but seriously, putting down a car over a simple sound problem and complaining for not feeling special because others drive the same car is just too much.

please trade it in because you are way cooler than rest of us. have a nice day!

I know this can be frustrating. There are two people on the forum who might be able to help. One is 04Fire. he had an issue with his alarm going off and not stopping. They did eventually fix his, pm him and see if that's the same as what's going on with yours, tell Jason, Pat sent you. The other fix is from Hawk Monster and a post called "Re: Body Control Module Problem" there is a fix listed in #22 posting on that thread. Sorry I could not figure how to paste it here. This deals with the panic button sirens. If you punch Body Control Module Problem into Search it should get you there. Good luck.

Simple sound problem you say? Yes, simple now after I paid a MERCEDES salesman to explain the problem that the Chrysler people obviously could not. Simple now that I don't have to get up in the middle of the night and pull a fuse to shut it up. Simple now that I'm not getting bitched at by my neighbors for my erratic car alarm because I happen to reside in an apartment complex.

As stated, I just wanted to rant a bit since I had just spent over half a grand to replace something that obviously was not broken... as for putting down the car...her... wtf? It's just a car, it has no feelings or gender...

Please, don't revive dead post just to b***h... Have a nice day!

You are VERY welcome. Also, you might indicate the city you live in - we have members in KY. Many of us will go out of our way to help. Last month, when my trunklid/hatch jammed, I had at least two other guys out in their cars trying to figure this out - on a Sunday afternoon!

Give us the city you are in, you know, on your post/profile - someone may be able to lend a hand with some problems!

You should have been around for my four hour struggle to open my trunk and get my top to go down!!!

The actual alarms themselves need to be replaced, fixed mine right up (till you can get it in the shop, you can pull fuse 11 *i think* to at least stop the noise) Pulling the battery wont fix it as the alarm system has its own power source...

But yeah, order some new alarm sirens and put them it, you can even do it yourself, not a hard job.
