Int lights won't go off and alarm comes on
I’ve got an SRT6 with some strange goings-on that I think are electric-related which is why I’m posting here.
Recently my dome lights stopped going out when I closed my door. Then the other day, after going off, the lights came back on while driving and wouldn’t go out. And earlier in the day, about 2 hours after parking and locking up, the alarm came on.
I’ve tried opening and closing both doors and rear hatch and I now can’t get the interior lights to go off other than switching them off manually. I’m also concerned about locking the car anymore as I don’t want to **** off the neighbors with the alarm going off in the middle of the night.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks

The lights are controlled by the illumination control module, these lights with the switch in the position you have it are controlled with a timer which may be failing.
I have had my alarm go without any reason and I have put it down to accidentally pressing the alarm button. Keep the keys somewhere other than your pocket and see if the alarm goes on again. If it does you know for sure that it wasn't you who caused it.
Sounds like the door switch is going bad or came loose or whatever.
That would explain the lights not going on or off as expected.
Reference the alarm going off, if the switch were to "close" while the car was locked the alarm would sense the current draw from the light and go into alarm.
That's my guess.

Thanks for the ideas guys
At the time the alarm went off I was about 70 miles from the car so the accidental button push won't apply... THIS time
Is the timer located in the "illumination control module"?
And the "door switch", is it located within the door or the car?

The door switch is located below the latch striker plate on the car. Next time the light won't go out check to see if your "door ajar" light is on.
Problem could also be with the rear hatch.

There's a "Door Ajar" light? (gets out manual...hmmm...page 5... well I'll be...) I've often wondered why this great car didn't have one of those, but they do! Mine has never come on, even when I've tested for it. lol
New developement; inserting key into drivers side door no longer locks doors. And yes, I turned the key
Something fishy going on here

Try and see if the key will lock the door when it is hanging open.
Sounds like the latch is not making, meaning the light switch will not make.
Just a thought!
Thanks for all the good info here.... my interior lights on the Aero have not been working in conjunction with the door or hatch. I had to turn the switch off above the mirror. Now I will have to find out which door switch is not working and making the car think the door is always open. (which is kind of stupid when your going down the road at 60mph)
