light weight battery
We grabbed a light weight battery to throw in the car along with the wiring we have been doing. The battery is too short for the factory tie down so we ended up making a quick spacer plate out of wood for it. It came out pretty decent but we can just have them waterjet if there is more interest in a battery swap. We ended up saving 28 pounds, the new battery has 850ca and 20 amp hours. So should we cut up some more spacers from a cnc program or would everyone want to just cut their own with a circular saw and drill bit? I'm not a fan of using wood on a car but for this scenario it works well and is very cheap. If anyone has a better idea for material lets discuss.

14 pounds, fiberglass material, no acid or liquid, sealed and can be mounted upside down if ya so wanted.
fire away with a better material, we dont want conductive metal for sure, we could do it out of acrilic or something along those lines but wood makes it so cheap we can include them for free basically.

I just miniturized the factory battery tray so everything fit properly for the Braille I used.

ok, new material is here and cut on the cnc program, it is a very dense rubber mat and is very cool stuff.

The 20Ah gives it a reserve capacity of about 33 minutes.
This does not compare too well with the Interstate MTP-91 battery that is popular on this forum. This may be OK in warm States but in the colder States I would not put too much faith in it myself.
Interstate #MTP-91,
700CCA, 875CA, 72Ah, reserve capacity 120 minutes, weight 37 lbs.
The capacity of this battery is less than 1/3 the Interstate battery.
When it comes to car batteries size does count, the heavier the battery the more power it can hold.
This battery will drain quickly in the cold weather.
thanks for the info, i edited the cca to ca in my first post.
we havent had any issues with it being 15-20f here. i surely didnt throw out my perfectly fine (although extremely heavy) stock battery, i installed it to test ourselves in the cold although i imagine customers would swap them in for racing season and swap the stock battery in for winter use (does anyone even daily drive their car in the north winter?).
