Is there an alarm active signal?
I want to put a more noticeable alarm indicator on my roadster - something very visible to help deter people from messing with my baby. I need to find a signal line somewhere that either goes high (+5 or +12 volts) or low (ground) and stays at that state when the alarm is activated; changes to the other state when the alarm is deactivated.
My new indicator is a 7 LED module that flashes each LED in sequence back and forth (a little Knight Rider-ish, I know
, but I want it to attract attention that my car is alarmed). All it requires is power, ground and an enable signal.
The only options I have been able to come up with are: 1) build a pulse stretcher circuit and tie into the flashing LED that is the current alarm indicator - use this to drive my new indicator, 2) build a counter circuit that turns on my new indicator when the lights flash 3 times, and turns it off when they flash 1 time, and tie into the relay along with the beeper, or 3) install a micro switch on the console cover lock and use that to turn my new indicator on and off.
I would prefer to not have to build any additional circuits to keep it simple and keep the power draw to a minimum.
Thanks...
