Ok so after much thought, many different options, and browsing, im going to get the new Pioneer MVH 8200 mech free head unit. This will be my first bout with changing a cd player in any car, ( i will have an experienced friend during actual installation ). What all am i going to need as far as wiring harnesses etc? Any input would be highly appreciated. 2005 Limited coupe.

I just replaced my OEM stereo with Navigation to an aftermarket Alpine that required a male Motorola antenna plug. The antenna adapter I used was Metra part number 40-VW12 that you can get at Crutchfield for $4.99, their part number is 12040VW12.

For the main wiring adapter, I used the SCOSCHE VW01B 1986-Up Volkswagen Wire HARNESS. I bought that here...

You will also need 2 MERCEDES AUDI VW radio removal key tools. I bought mine on eBay, but I believe Wal-Mart usually carries these...

Anyway, the above parts are what worked for me. Your mileage may vary.

 

You'll need a wiring Harness and the Euro antenna adapter.
- Converts standard Motorola female to OEM antenna male - VWA3B

Scosche wiring harness - VW01B

 

You might want to check out this thread, which gives an alternate -- and superior to stock wiring - method to wire up a HU with pre-amp out.

 

hey guys thanks for the responses, i ordered just what you all said, and am looking forward to getting this new unit in. I also ordered a video bypass off of ebay, it said it worked with all the avh and now mvh models. has anyone done a video bypass?

here is where i am, everything is hooked up, sounds great ( finally after different wiring options) but now the new problem, i can find nothing on here or anywhere online about a mounting kit, which i am in desperate need of, as you can see. anyone have any input about a mounting kit? i noticed the factory nav had those clips and just clipped right in. not the case with this new pioneer.
