Default My XF makes the Boom Boom sound

Hi guys,

Just a few shots of my Subwoofers/Amplifier/Capacitor/Speakers

- 2 1000W RMS Orion 10" subwoofers in a dual (2 cu. ft.) sealed box

- 1000W RMS Performance Teknique Amp

- 3 Farad Capacitor

- 2 Infinity Reference 9632cf 2 way 6x9's (300w Peak)

I have a 2005 Base Coupe, so adding the new rear speakers really improved the sound a lot.

Edit: I'm aware I have no trunk space anymore, but who cares!!! I'm willing to post more pics if you guys want to see em, just request it.

Have a nice day.

As long as you're aware.

Way too much for my taste.

Hopefully you have invested in some dynomat

Are the speaker boxes on top of the subs mounted in any way? Seems like they would slide around and damage the rear if they were not....

Crank that **** up around my house and I will find your car, douse with gas, and burn it. I don't care if it's a Crossfire. I can't stand the invasion of my privacy by these booming boxes. F.U.

The rattle wasn't bad when I first picked it up from the shop... but has gotten progressively worse.

I think most of it is coming from the license plate (which is only secured by two screws in the back), that will be the first fix.

My old truck had dynamat all over the place, so I'll probably do the same.

(I forgot what it's called exactly, but you can find the SAME product at Lowe's for much, much cheaper. It comes in a roll instead of by the sq. ft. but I can get a roll that's like 9" by 18 ft for $25 instead of paying $9 per sq. ft.)

As far as the mounting goes... I have some 2" thick velcro on the underside of the speaker boxes.
Adhesive on one side and the scratchy velcro on the other. It sticks to the carpet so well that it's hard to reposition them.

Edit: Oh, and don't worry Tunaglove. I'm only 1,934 miles from ya.

The rattle in mine sounded like it was coming from the tailight more than the license plate. I'll check it out again. Thanks!

Does it bother you when someone rides by on a harley and you can hear them for literally miles?

How about when a cop is driving the bike?

Eric I have a few questions for you. I'm tired of looking and searching with no results lol.
Did you by pass the stock amp and just run your new amp from the rca out on your new hu if not what in Zfack did you do?
What did you use to mount your amp to the bulkhead wall? I'm wanting to put my amp there as well but I don't want to hit anything behind it..

My plan-
1 10 inch sub buried in the tire repair area I'm going to pull all that **** out place my sub an box in the space. I had another idea aswell....i did a lot of thinking today. Im tossing around the idea of lining the hole with plastic covering my sub box in plastic placing it in the hole then filling the entire area with great stuff foam let it setup then yank it out remove the plastic and bam a perfectly tight fit for my sub and box and it might help with vibrations as well not sure what to do about a trunk bottom yet.... Might get crazy with some led lights and plexiglas.

I have a base model XF so I have no stock amp, and also, I got my subs installed at a shop.

My amp is screwed to a piece of wood (~ 1 inch thick, probably 3x2 ft; it's a rectangle that also holds my capacitor) and was half assed screwed to the bulkhead wall. Screws only penetrate maybe 1/2" and are at the very top part. The amp board is also kind of pinned into place by my box (2 cu. ft rectangle)

Lemme know if you have any more questions.

Ah.... I forgot I read you had a base model I don't want anything but base coming from the sub so I hope I can use the aftermarket amp for just the sub without having to join the two itll be a battle getting wires run to the trunk as it is let alone trying to join the stock amp! Any idea how they got your wires ran back?

Is anyone on here interested in a all fiberglass enclosure? I have a close friend who builds the 4080 custom fit enclosures for C6 vettes, Infinity coupes, RX8's, etc. He built one for my 2007 Dodge Ram and he owes me another, so I will probably get one made for my SRT-6 coupe. I know he has a lot on his plate, but I will ask if he will create a mold. My truck box weighs next to nothing, matches the carpet, and takes up very little space under my rear seat. It perfectly fits, so the only rattle comes from my teeth when I play some loud bass stuff that my kids listen to. I recently upgraded my SRT6 to a Kenwood head unit with bluetooth and a USB port. I plugged in a 16Gb micro thumb drive and all is well, but I want a little more.

If I were you I would just get an aftermarket head unit (If you don't have one already) and not use the stock amp at all. If it's in your budget, I would just go full aftermarket. As far as how they got the wires back... I think just under the carpet/plastic molding pieces. Just down one of the sides and straight into the back. I've been a little busy with work and school, but I can take a look either tomorrow or the next day when there's still daylight left if you want.

That sounds like it would be amazing. Are these the boxes that are molded and use no wood at all? Because those are badass. I notice I get a little rattle from my wing (I have an N/A) when it's up, not sure how i'd fix that other than with dynamat or something. Sounds like a badass option if it wasn't too expensive though.

Regards,
Eric

Guys i already have the mold. You do need to use wood for the speaker ring.

I dig this setup as well only one issue I came up with I drink a lot on the weekends and have a cooler in the back when my gf is with me. I'm afraid of water damaging components so my original plan of hiding everything under the floor is out I may get an after market amp, head unit, door speakers, and subs to replace the stock ones and place the amp in the stock location. I found a few badass speakers that will fit and I may even add two tweeters on the bulkhead wall. Idk yet I have tooooo many ideas right now... I need to pick one and just go with it my amazon shopping cart is getting full Haha

I talked with my friend with the stealth boxes. He is swamped with custom work, but wants to take a mold of the car. He definitely recommends only one sub in such a small cockpit, and because two separate boxes tend to cancel each other. I plan on loaning him the car for a week to see what he can create. The box he made for my truck has no MDF or wood, the trim ring is a molded plastic, so it's very lightweight. I don't know when I can get it to him since I recently ordered a new Bosch IC pump and DCAI from NS and plan on having Eurocharged install them when they put on a pulley system and ECU tuning. I will post updates on the enclosure when I finally get it to him.
