Default Wiper Issue

I have in interesting one! Our '05 roadster can not be convinced that it is not raining. The only way to shut the wipers off is to turn the car off and wait sixty seconds to restart the engine. Then and only then will the wipers return to the rest possition and stay there. Do I have a stuck relay somewhere? Any ideas?

Thanks

I think you are having a problem with the parking mechanism of the wiper motor. When the wiper is switched off the motor keeps running until the arm reaches the parked position at which time it opens a contact and shuts the motor off. It trips this switch every time it reaches the parked position but the power is not cut off in the continuous run cycle as power is still available to keep the wipers going.
You may be able to take the motor apart and fix it, I have done it a long time ago on an older car. If not a new or used motor is your only option.
