Stock head with audio input jack
Hey all, my first time here... I recently bought a used 04 alabaster coupe and noticed it has an 8th inch jack that says "audio input", but I cannot get the radio to switch to this input, even with high levels of input. I'm fairly new to the world of car audio, especially the crossfire, but I can't seem to find a thread with a similar senario. Any help would be delightful as cd's are so "old tech"
I have a similar set up for my ipod. With radio off, plug-in your MP3 player and flip the mystery switch. To go back to radio, flip the switch the other way and turn on radio.
On mine,I installed the switch and jack inside the center console.

I was going to suggest you follow the wiring, but I think you might have the answer from MI1XFIRE.
JM, how's the sound quality you get from your setup?

Someone went Frankenstein on your audio system before you got the car. If the other suggestions don't work then you will probably have to follow the wiring. Most of the iPod docks I have seen are in the console. Good luck & congrats on the new XF.

Everything including volume is controlled thru the ipod.
All it consist of is a small electronic switch box that connects to the back of the radio (uses stock connectors) and powers the amp when the stock radio is turned off and and external switch is activated.
I don't know if you can still find these, it was a mercedes SLK R170 aftermarket accessory that I got from a guy that was going to offer them for the XF but not too many ppl showed interest at the time....They was a thread on here about it about 4 to 5 years ago.
Thanks for all the help, I tried your suggestion, but no go, I can't get the switch to do anything, I'm going to follow it (wiring) and see if the switch was disconnected. I absolutely love the car, but I got to have it all working
