My GPS mount
I have been pondering locations for my GPS, because I hate having it on the windshield, but there is no good spot on our dash either.
I came up with a solution that I am quite pleased with overall.
I do a bit of scale model building, so I grabbed a piece of fairly thick gauge styrene plastic
I had handy, and cut it into roughly the size I wanted. I just used a disposable lighter and a straightedge to bend the sheet of plastic to the glovebox's countours, and cut for clearance. (using the glovebox itself for referance)
After shaping, I painted it, and using an eyeglass chamois, I polished the surface a bit for maximum suction/adhesion
Here is the finished backside. it is partially unpainted because this is inside the glovebox and won't be seen, but also because I held it there to paint it.

And the topside

Next to the GPS for size comparison:

Here it is being tested for proof of concept on the owners manual as glovebox door stand in.

AND... here it is in the car. You can see how it contours the backside, but because it's plastic, it won't hurt the felt. I'm going to put little felt bumpers on the backside of the mount that touches the exterior of the glovebox door, to prevent any possible scuffing. Also, the glovebox remains 100% functional.

The angle isn't perfect, but you can esentially tell how it fits between the inside edge of the glovebox and the striker for the light. The rubber bumper helps to hold it securely too!

And here it is on the door. Nicely up and out of the passengers knees, and the useless little net on the passenger side of the trans tunnel holds the excess cord nicely.

And from the drivers POV, it blends right into the dash layout.
I'm verry happy overall. It's mounted now, we'll see if it's still hanging on when I leave for work later, and if it survives the trip, but so far so good.

Looks nice. I'm considering hard wiring mine with a similar location, or over near the left side of the front windshield upper left corner so I can have the power wire hidden as well.
looks nice and clean but IMO a stand alone gps unit is a waste of space and old tech since pretty much every smart phone and many aftermarket radios are more up to date with new maps then most gps units do.

True, but i'm old school. My phone doesn't even text. lol
I don't use it that often, but when I do, now it's off the dang windshield.
And as an aside, she's holding on strong. Very stable. Woo hoo!
