Default Amp Wiring Question

So I bought my '05 limited Xfire a few months ago and it already was wired with 10 guage and I had 4 guage wire laying around so I deceided to install that, I still have the 10 guage in as well because I thought it was too much work to take it out. My question is, with both wires how much power should I be able to safely push without setting something on fire? I'm thinking of upgrading to 12" Solobaric L7's so I can have a bit of trunk space again.

Thanks guys!

Uhm, probably not the best way to approach the question lol. 10 gauge is basically worthless in my opinion. Even 8 gauge is a baddd idea. Do yourself a HUGE favor, and rip that crap OUT! It wouldnt handle 1 solobaric s7 let alone 2. (btw 2, is 1 too many in my opinion as well.) You need to rewire with atleaaast a 4 gauge, but probably a 2 or better if you are going to run 2 solobaric L7s.

If your willing to spend hundreds on 2 L7s... spend the money on the 2 gauge wires.

I'd have to agree - if your spending the money on quality equipment, spending a few extra bucks for insurance is a given. But, in case you are wanting to know, here is a chart that might be helpful.

Enjoy!!

And make sure you roll your windows up when driving around here. This way you'll have to park it in the garage to replace all the windows you'll wind up shattering when the bass is cranked. LMAO... Thats a whole lotta amps!

yeah waaay too much bass w/ 2 of those in that itty bitty car.. I have one of those JL 13.5 shallow mount subs and thats almost too much even.. The car shakes aloooot and over time things begin to rattle, etc.

Thanks for the reply guys, I'm running my speakers off the 4 guage wire and I kept the 10 guage in there to power all my extra lights I have in the trunk and my underglow. I'll post some pictures when I get my car out of the shop next week.
