Default Is air on electronics?

I recently replaced the valve that directs the hot water to the heater because my Crossfire could only blow hot air in the cabin. It cost me £300 so I was gutted when I found out that I have another problem. If I start he car and call for some heat to arm the cabin it works OK but once I switch to cold I annotate get hot again until i stop the car and restart it. The garage tells me the heating controls are shot and we ones are £600 plus. A grand to have a working hating system is a bit of a worry. Any ideas?
