Antenna connector?

Antenna connector?
Help please. There are two coax cables running into the back of my factory radio. I am putting in a new head unit and am baffled by these two cables. The larger one plugs into the factory unit on one side and the smaller cable plugs in by the wiring harness plug. What do they do? Which is the antenna? What adapter do I need? My new head unit accepts a motorola style plug.

The one on the left is for the radio and the one on the right is for the GPS antenna.

Yes you will need what they call a european to aftermarket adaptor.
Looks like this, found it on the net.
Aslo search for VW to aftermarket adaptor, if you cant find anything locally
